Capri Palace Hotel

Via Capodimonte, 14, Anacapri, Isola di Capri NA, Italy

If ever a hotel’s essence was embodied in its name, it is Capri Palace. The most renowned island in the Gulf of Naples is synonymous with film-star glamour, while the word ‘palace’ evokes an image of opulence and tradition.

The crème de la crème of the island’s many hotels, it is discreetly positioned in Anacapri, a hilltop village with staggering views. Make the most of them in one of the new Capri Suites, where the light bounces between towering windows and decadent mirrored wardrobes, coming to rest on a bed canopied in white muslin with a royal blue trim.

From the pool attendant who seems to walk past whenever needed, to the therapist who produces fruity tea before you knew you were thirsty, service is discreet and preemptive.

With two Michelin stars, Restaurant L’Olivo is a destination in itself but the atmosphere remains as light as the seaweed brioche that’s served up before dinner. Diners opt for linen jackets rather than suits, and you’ll eat from sofas covered in bespoke cashmere. Dishes are full of surprises that will draw you into the experience; a wild vegetable starter designed to look like a garden had tiny wild strawberries hidden in it and the tea trolley laden with fresh herbs and rare spices allows you to create your own digestif. It’s Michelin-star-meets-holiday – and we love it.
