Fitzrovia

With streets lined by Victorian mansions and a host of independent shops, it’s no wonder Fitzrovia is known as one of London’s most exclusive postcodes. Soak up views of Fitzrovia Chapel from The Larder, whose seating spills out onto Pearson Square.

Inside, discover Iberian hams hanging from the walls as the smell of freshly baked sourdough, delivered from Michelin-starred restaurant Hedone, fills the room. Marble-lined shelves are stacked high with Rococo sea salt chocolate bars, Helt honey, Maldon smoked salmon and Diforti’s fresh spinach and ricotta ravioli. Save room in your basket for cheeses from La Fromagerie, including slow-matured stichelton.

In need of a morning coffee? House blend Sumatra Bourbon coffee beans from family-run Reads Coffee Roasters in Dorset, are freshly ground to order. The result is a smooth, chocolatey flavour that makes a heavenly cappuccino. Buttery croissants and pastries line the counter for early risers, while the signature cinnamon rolls always sell out.

Executive chef Diego Cardosa has created what can only be called an enviable menu. For lunch, we particularly recommend the burrata with the crushed avocado salad; this was accompanied with freshly squeezed Amal lemonade. As extended opening hours now include dinner, you can feast on Angus beef meatballs served in a rich tomato sauce topped with croutons and a generous serving of parmesan.

On the first Thursday of every month, try out the season’s latest wine discoveries from experienced sommelier Marc Andrea-Levy, matched with the nest charcuterie. Just added to their wine list are two new bottles from London Cru winery, who use grapes carefully selected from small vineyards across Europe. Their Charlotte St chardonnay is aged for 10 months in oak barrels, giving it a creamy, toasty nish that goes perfectly with a pot of Spanish Perelló olives. SD. thelarder.co.uk
