Mazi

Notting Hill, 12-14 HIllgate street, London W8 7SR

The name Mazi means together, so order lots of delicious small plates to share and get stuck in. This vibrant restaurant with its vine-covered courtyard serves dishes true to its Greek roots with a modern twist. Starters arrive in Kilner jars filled with moreish dips like a smooth taramasalata with ripples of lemon caviar. Then try orzo in a rich sauce of milk-braised veal shanks and grilled octopus decorated with dots of olive tapenade. The wine list is distinctly Greek with plenty of dry malagousia and fruity xinomavro. Round it off with sweet and sticky loukoumades – think doughnuts doused in lavender honey and crushed walnuts.
