Arcadia Deli

Trading for nearly 80 years, Arcadia has been under the management of the Brown family for three generations. Though small, the shop makes good use of its space and includes a fourmetre-long fresh food display where you can pick from a variety of cheeses such as Kearney Blue and Brie de Meaux. A recent addition to the shop is the fresh fish counter, which has proven very popular with customers. Seasonal fish from local ports such as Ardglass and Kilkeel can include anything from juicy Irish king scallops to Dundrum mussels. Ditty’s Bakery, in Castledawson, was named Baker of the Year last year and provides Irish oatcakes and spiced shortbread. Their tea cakes taste best slathered with Irish hand-churned butter from Abernethy Butter and a cup of Belfast Brew or Earl Grey Blue Flower tea from Suki Tea. Also unique to the area is O’Doherty’s black bacon. Reared in County Fermanagh, the pork is cured in treacle to give it a distinctive flavour.
