Surrounded by 341-hectare estate with winding woodland paths, medieval
ruins and the magical River Maigue, sits the grand Adare Manor. It’s nothing
short of an Irish fairy tale. The restored building houses 104 bedrooms, each
individually decorated with Georgian-inspired mahogany furniture, fireplaces
and roll-top bathtubs. Head chef Michael Tweedie creates a sensational six-
course tasting menu in The Oak Room, where eponymous decoration creates
a magical glow as candlelight bounces off the wood-panelled surroundings.
Expect the likes of monkfish cooked on the bone with cauliflower, brown
shrimp and Thai spices. After, head to the 1920s-inspired Tack Room for
one of their excellent cocktails. Doubles from £280.
