Byblos Hotel

20 AVENUE PAUL SIGNAC SAINT-TROPEZ

Legends circle the Hotel Byblos like the superyachts laying siege to the town’s powder-soft beaches. Built in 1967 by a Lebanese billionaire to seduce Brigitte Bardot, it was where Mick and Bianca Jagger spent their honeymoon, and where scores of A-listers seek refuge from prying paparazzi in high summer.

Sunloungers orbit the bijou pool, backed by a cluster of buildings that mimic a Provençal village. One path leads to the infamous Les Caves du Roy nightclub and through a scented arbour to Alain Ducasse’s Rivea restaurant; in the other direction is the spa, with its original Picasso-tiled courtyard. Generous bedrooms have a luxurious, home-from-home feel, and days are spent flitting between endless boutiques, the marina and the beach. You could almost forget where you parked your yacht. JW. Doubles from £310. byblos.com
