Cerês Am Meer Hotel

Germany

Cerês Am Meer, on Rügen Island’s chalk coast, was designed to capture the spirit of the sea. And it shows. Smoked oak parquet floors reflect the dark Baltic waters; grand French windows illuminate sand-toned fabrics; and nature’s colour palette imbues the 50 rooms and suites – part of the Design Hotels stable – with calm. Most have outdoor spaces and views of the Binz promenade. Alternatives to a day on the beach include hiking in the nearby Biosphere Reserve, indulging in a Baltic-inspired algae treatment in the on-site Senso Spa or taking a dip in the saltwater pool and simply letting the gentle hum of the waves soothe body and mind.

After dinner at the beachfront Negro restaurant, which boasts the most extensive list of German wines in the country, you could step aboard a private yacht to witness the beauty of the island from a different perspective, and stargazers won’t be disappointed by the Coppola Suite’s sublime glass roof.
