Ett Hem Hotel

Stockholm, Sweden

If diplomatic disputes were settled in hotels, Ett Hem would be Sweden’s trump card. Located in Stockholm’s embassy district, this Arts and Crafts hotel was previously a residential home, and its intimate, inviting ambience retains homely traces. Having just 12 bedrooms, the atmosphere is friendly and familial, while timeless interiors have been designed with hygge in mind: rich muted tones, wood-panelled walls and raw-wood furnishings offer an entirely liveable space equipped with sheepskin throws and wood-burning stoves; the Gotland stone-flagged sauna adds a touch of understated luxury. Meals – as at home – can be eaten when and where you please, whether that’s perched on a drawing room sofa or taken communally in the kitchen. It’s a masterclass in soft diplomacy.
