Graanmarkt 13 Hotel

Belgium

Eat, sleep, shop, in whatever order you like at this one-off in the Belgian port city of Antwerp. Renowned architect Vincent Van Duysen has converted a traditional townhouse into a multi-purpose space made up of an apartment, store and restaurant (with kitchen garden), with the space at the top providing a home for the family of the Graanmarkt 13 owners Ilse Cornelissens and Tim Van Geloven. Not only is the two-floor luxury apartment available to book for a perfect city break (email ilse@graanmarkt13.be for availability), but pop downstairs and you’ve got a store that showcases forward-thinking design talent across fashion, interior and beauty – and then there’s the restaurant. In line with the ethical thinking behind the project, chef Jan Keuppens has gone to lengths to reduce his eco footprint, looking at rooftop gardening – including their own, which provides herbs and honey – and local farmers to source seasonal ingredients for a daily-changing menu that incorporates meat, fish and vegetarian tapas..
