Great Northern Hotel Hotel

King's Cross St Pancras Station, Pancras Road, London, N1C 4TB

Bow-fronted and flanked by St Pancras and King’s Cross, this is everything a terminus hotel should be. It checks you in quickly. Rooms function. You don’t have to hunt for drawers or hold a degree in IT to turn on the light. The shower won’t freeze or burn you. Smaller rooms are large enough. And there are some neat extras. Corridors have pantries stocked with cakes and coffee so early risers can self-service snack – free of charge. The cocktail bar’s mezzanine snug is decorated with Edwardian postcards and its signature drinks have attitude. Try ‘1854’: Woodford Reserve and Noilly Prat with cardamom and smoked pineapple syrup. Chef Mark Sargeant oversees the dining room while Kiosk, on the station concourse, may well be a tiny cubby-hole but its sandwiches are truly mighty. MR. Rooms from £184.
