Los Enamorados Hotel

Ibiza, Spain

At the tip of the White Island, where the road north peters out, awaits this fairy-tale hotel – albeit a very funky fairy tale. Clinging to a cliff overlooking one of the most beautiful coves in Ibiza, it’s a captivating, idiosyncratic and romantic chill-out spot. If it had a motto, it might be ‘expect the unexpected’, but in truth it is hard to capture the Alice inWonderland meets Jean-Paul Gaultier by way of Notting Hill mood that the owners, a former fashion editor and basketball player, have created.

Such eclectic style can be intimidating, but obliging staff and a breezy mood make the place feel notably friendly and unpretentious. The food has a relaxed, contemporary flair to match. Think chilled avocado soup served in the shell, rich beef ribs and carrot-crisp frites on beautiful ceramic plates.

Exotically hued bedrooms feature snorkelling masks, Italian linen and silk drapes. Throughout the main space, expect a perfect gallimaufry of fabulous kimonos, super-sized crocheted lobsters, Venetian glass fish, cashmere jumpers, raffia everything and perhaps the world’s most aspirational swimsuits, all of which are for sale. There are Sixties vibes in the basket-weave chairs and outsized macramé plant holders, copper basins, ostrich-feather palm trees, giant tribal masks, arty driftwood furniture and even nostalgic shag-pile rugs. It’s a delirious, yet utterly delicious concoction.
