Odette en Ville Hotel

Rue du Châtelain 25, 1050 Ixelles, Belgium

Permanently dimmed lighting, sultry boudoir-inspired styling: it’s not to everyone’s taste, but if you embrace the theatre that prevails at this south central Brussels hotel you’ll find it all works rather well. Black plush carpets, pristine white beds, (lots of) mirrors and, in some cases, working fireplaces, grace the eight bedrooms; a Penhaligon’s scent seems to waft everywhere. Much of the decor is available for sale, including a £923 rabbit skin throw. The downstairs restaurant and library lounge are equally sleek, and serve a continental breakfast beyond reproach with fluffy hot croissants and freshly squeezed juices. Doubles from £208.
