Palazzo Casotti Hotel

Via Umberto I, 28, 73100 Lecce LE, Italy

Built in 1700, this once private, almost hidden home has been discreetly restored. The contemporary bedrooms are a delicate fusion of old and new. Inside, an arched window surrounded by exposed stone signals to the Lecce of old, and provides a view over the ancient square. Step outside your room and you’re confronted with the awe-inspiring Basilica di Santa Croce. Beds are comfortable and, although compact, the bathrooms feels luxurious. Breakfast, served in the bar, is a bit glum, but with this location and at these prices, it matters little. Doubles from £100.
