Paradisus by Meliá Gran Canaria Hotel

Spain

Gone are the days that San Agustín Beach – on the south coast of Gran Canaria – was all about sun, sea and sand. Now guests staying in the newly opened Paradisus by Meliá are encouraged to establish a deeper connection with the area, thanks to all-inclusive offerings ranging from the opportunity to join a cooking class to guided excursions. The hotel design echoes an interest and investment in the area: local art hangs on the walls, regional products are stocked in the minibar and island dishes are on offer at several of the nine dining areas. Once guests’ appetite for adventure has been sated, there’s no shortage of things to do within the seafront resort. There’s the option of unwinding in the spa or one of the four pools – and plenty for families too, from a kids’ club (from five years old) through to sports and film nights for teens. Year-round sunshine means the islands are known for their ‘eternal spring’ and after a restorative stay, guests will leave feeling that hope springs eternal.
