The Old Cricket Common Cookham Dean Berkshire
Style is the USP at this ruralchic bolthole in Cookham Dean – not surprisingly, as it is the country cousin to the stylish Sanctum in Soho, London. The bejewelled chandeliers and textured fabrics of its cousin in the capital carry through to this country outpost, here sitting alongside rustic wooden beams and wainscotting. There is a pool and a hot tub, but you won’t need either if you stay in the suite, which boasts a ninefoot bathtub with waterfall shower that’s an attraction in itself. The British menu is simply prepared using local ingredients; expect Dexter beef or spiced pork belly. Take advantage of the location and go horse riding or walking along the country paths nearby. Plus, Marlow is only a short drive away. Doubles from £120.
