Kent
Cosy without veering into twee, stylish yet with all the
warmth of a well-loved local pub, this white weatherboard
inn is the ideal destination for a relaxing weekend.
Situated in the thriving village of Egerton which overlooks
the Weald of Kent, the building dates back to 1576,
although it has recently been tastefully renovated by new
owners Sarah and Dane Allchorne. Start by kicking off
your wellies and sipping a local beer by the fire, before
heading into the artfully distressed dining room. Like the
atmosphere, the menus are classic with a refined twist.
Cauliflower and chestnut soup is lifted with a drizzle of
truffle honey, while sea bass, seared until crisp and served
with velvety gnocchi, provides a delicious taste of the
Kentish coast. All three bedrooms are luxurious and
painted in a refreshing sorbet palette. However, standout
room Disk has the added draw of wonky beams and an
enormous bath tub, where you soak in a cloud of bubbles
made locally by Romney Marsh Wools. A full English
served in a room dappled in the morning’s light will
leave you refreshed and ready to face the week.
Doubles from £80.
