2-4 Boundary Street, Shoreditch, London
Luggage permitting, The Boundary is within walking distance of Liverpool Street station. The 17 rooms in this converted papermill are a bit special, a designer’s patchwork of names. They range from a powder-blue Vicki Conran duplex to a Hong Kong David Tang suite with nods to styles as diverse as Bauhaus and Shakers. All are light, airy, the corner rooms especially. At ground level the Albion café dishes up one of London’s best breakfasts. The Rooftop, with its deck design and 360° view, focuses on chargrills, while in the basement there is a French restaurant. Don’t expect views. The hotel squeezes between offices and flats, probably why the interiors make such an impact. Guaranteed peace and quiet. Doubles from £140.
