Chipping Campden Gloucestershire
Open fields, stone cottages, slightly ramshackle town hall – it doesn’t get more chocolate box than the country village of Chipping Campden, and sat on its hedgerow-fringed borders is The Ebrington Arms, a 17th-century Cotswold cubbyhole. The five rooms have a modern farmhouse feel – think crooked ceilings, pine four-posters and big bay seats overlooking a bluebell-frosted beer garden. Downstairs, the pub serves up pretty plates of modern British: standout dishes include a crisp pork shoulder and black pudding salad, and creamy caramel panna cotta with poached apple and chewy honeycomb. The menu is constantly changing, but when there’s charcuterie on offer you’d be wise to try the house salami – rich and peppery,
it’s cured by head chef Darral Warner down in the Tudor cellars. JB. Rooms from £130.
