Perched on the southern coast of the main Azores island of São Miguel, there’s almost a Greek feel to White, a collection of ocean-facing luxury suites and villas. Every space has a sea view and the rooms reflect the name, with white walls embellished with timber or stone, and the softest of colours. There’s no lack of vibrancy in the food offering, with a strong farm-to-fork ethos (they have their own organic farm that you can visit), and fish making the shortest of trips from ocean to plate. Dishes vary from Azorean hake with pil-pil and periwinkles to roasted lamb, fava bean purée and tandoori and marjoram béarnaise. Everything you want is here: cocktails by the fire pit, a heated saltwater infinity pool, wellness and yoga with an Atlantic view, and a small boat you can take to explore the archipelago.
