Situated on a hilltop with views over the Firth of Forth, Edinburgh and the Pentland Hills, Craigie’s Farm deli and café is run by husband-and-wife team John and Kirsteen Sinclair. This thriving business runs alongside their 260-acre arable farm, where they grow everything from strawberries and gooseberries to asparagus and pumpkins. Inside, you’ll find an impressive selection of Scottish cheeses including smoked Kintyre applewood, Blue Monday and caboc, hand-rolled in Scottish pinhead oatmeal. The butchery counter sells Scottish meat including Aberdeen Angus, buffalo and Jacob lamb, all sourced from a farm in Fife. The jam kitchen makes a range of 42 different preserves including cranberry and port sauce, damson jelly, greengage jam made with seasonal Scottish fruit, green bean relish and gooseberry and rhubarb chutney. You can also expect to find local produce such as black pudding from Charles MacLeod and tasty oatcakes from Adamson’s of Pittenweem. The café sells a variety of home-made delights including pepper and brie quiches, sausage rolls stuffed with Puddledub pork and, to finish, fruit scones, carrot cake, raspberry tarts, peppermint crisp and shortbread.
