West Sussex
Set in 12,000 acres of Sussex countryside, the Goodwood estate is perhaps best known for hosting major sporting events such as racing of the four-wheeled and four-legged variety. But tucked away in the heart of the estate you’ll also come across the Goodwood Farm Shop, which is brimming with tasty produce. The shop stocks a rich variety of reared meats supplied directly from the estate’s farm, home to 200 dairy cows, 1,200 breeding ewes and 20 Saddleback sows. Fruit and vegetables are also picked from the organic farm and include wild garlic, wild plums for jams and honey produced from hives located around the farm and nearby woodlands. External produce comes from a variety of suppliers including award winning ciders and apple juice from Appledram, based in Chichester. Bookers vineyard in Bolney supplies fine English wines, from sparkling reds to cooler, refreshing white varieties, perfect to sip during warm, sunny afternoons. Nutbourne provides tomatoes, including rare varieties such as tiger, pink beef, mini plum in orange, red and yellow and the popular San Marzano. Handmade speciality bread arrives fresh every morning from Slindon Bakery in Ford, while tasty home-made gingerbread and tempting cakes come from the Incredible Edible Gingerbread Company.
