Slightly off the beaten track a mile from the nearest village and down a long, winding lane, Home Farm is a pleasant surprise once you actually get there. Run by the Belbins, this shop is truly a family affair. While husband Rodney looks after the farm, his wife Marlene runs the farm shop with daughter Abigail – who also makes the pork pies – while their other daughter Lisa, is responsible for the selection of chutneys and jellies including onion marmalade and mint jelly. The shop also stocks beef, spinach and asparagus, from their farm and all the meals in the tearoom are made by Marlene. Visitors can expect ham and asparagus quiches, seasonal salads, fish pies and lamb crumble. The butchery counter is managed by Ray Lewis who has been in the trade since his early teens and knows his way around the butcher’s block. Hampers are big business at the farm shop and they’re packed with local delights such as the zesty lime curd from Rose Farm, honey from Field Honey Farms, chocolate from House of Dorchester, coffee from Dorset Coffee Co and apple juice from Bridge Farm.
