Pekmez-roasted Walnuts

Makes 200g Desserts and puddings

Ingredients

  • 200g walnut halves
  • 50g pekmez (grape molasses)
  • 1⁄2tsp salt or to taste

Method

Preheat the oven to
180C/160C F/Gas 4. Line a baking sheet with baking paper.

In a bowl, mix the walnuts with the pekmez and salt and spread them in one layer on the baking sheet. Roast on the middle shelf of the oven for 5-8 minutes until the pekmezstarts to caramelise.

Remove from the oven and leave the walnuts to cool on the sheet. Some will be gooey, others crunchy. Taste and add more salt if you like before serving as a snack.

You can also use them as an ingredient in pastries, if you like.
