204 Brick Ln, London E1 6SA
We were happy to hear the Alary brothers of Soho’s Blanchette were opening a second outpost, this time with more southern French and north African flavours. Inside feels delightfully and romantically Parisian: think antiques from the capital’s vintage markets, flickering candles and bistro tables. Start with crispy frog legs in a tomato bois boudran sauce. Monkfish with smoked aubergine purée and chermoula courgette has a lovely sweetness to it, while the lamb tagine with apricot, almonds and labneh is tender and warming. Of course, there’s a whole host of cheese and charcuterie too.
