With a menu inspired by Michel Roux Jr’s
upbringing in Kent, typical Roux standards of
service can be counted on at the excellent Chez Roux (at The Langham). It may not be Le
Gavroche, but it knows its hospitality onions,
from the ‘welcome all-comers’ attitude to the
execution of every dish. Creamy foie gras parfait
(with perry jelly) is everything you could hope
for, but the menu is chiefly about non-fussy, full
flavoured dishes, be it a roast chicken with
bramley apple stuffing or just a great piece of
fish in a cracking sauce. The kitchen similarly
nails dessert.
