22 Harcourt St, London
This tiny, unassuming venue in Paddington turns out fusion food at its finest, and is one of London’s best Japanese restaurants, modern or otherwise. Classic Japanese flavours and preparations meld with British and European ingredients: think Dover sole sushi, yellowtail sashimi with summer truffle, wagyu beef and miso ‘tar-tar chip’ (basically, a mini taco). Cornish produce, including oysters and game, features heavily while Scottish lobster and the foie gras rolls hit a new level of decadence. The sesame pud with cappuccino cream is bliss.
