Raising the Steaks
Hawksmoor has for a long time been ticking boxes of excellence. After raising the bar on the steak front almost two decades ago, it then decided to nail seafood by working with Mitch Tonks. Then came breakfasts – pork chop bacon and trotter baked beans, anyone? – and now it’s found a home that was destined to be theirs: the cavernous, high-ceilinged glory of what was The Midland at the Grade I-listed St Pancras London Hotel. The steak and seafood-first starters are, of course, exceptional, but what’s new is the martini bar, which is bringing the best to complete the Hawksmoor picture: duke-style direct (ie sub-zero) and steakhouse martini, sour cherry negroni and fuller fat old fashioned. Hawksmoor has nailed it again.
