Hutong

31 St Thomas St, London

The skyline-dominating Shard was always going to offer a home to big-name restaurants. and while rainer Becker’s oblix has had mixed reviews, Hutong, from david Yeo’s aqua restaurant Group, is imported from the acclaimed original of the same name in Hong Kong. It focuses on contemporary Chinese cuisine, notably the seafood and sauces of Shandong and the heat and spice of Szechuan. But the food is almost secondary to the setting – not just the spectacular 33rd-floor panorama but the intricate décor, which uses only Chinese materials. Impressive.
