Bridle Way, Goring, Goring-on-Thames, UK
On sunny weekends, the deck seats on the water’s edge at this local favourite are in high demand. Watch river traffic chug by as you work your way through the daily changing menu, which is punctuated with accents from a chef who spent over a decade in New Zealand; try roast courgette blossom with whipped feta cheese, pumpkin seeds and truffled honey, or red mullet with crab, girolles and avruga caviar. The wine list is sizeable, and includes a full two pages of Chablis alone – which, incidentally, is perfect for sipping as you watch the sun slink behind the Chiltern Hills.
