If you’ve already got two award-winning
restaurants on the same street in London’s
Bermondsey, a third has to be good but also a bit different. And it is. Lolo is José Pizarro’s
all-dayer, with breakfasts of devilled eggs four
ways and omelettes that include a killer with
Iberian ham shoulder 5J, caramelised onion and
crisps. The chunk of menu labelled ‘all the rest’ is
where we get the real gems, though: zingy red
prawn carpaccio with orange and chilli, or meaty
octopus with black-eyed beans and roasted
tomatoes. Lolo does it all to José’s standards,
which never seem to slip.
