A spin-off from Essex’s Mistley Thorn hotel, Lucca Enoteca has no problem attracting crowds. Although they offer Italian dishes, salads and roasts, what you really come here for is the pizzas, which are made in wood-fired ovens Neapolitian-style, topped with lovely British ingredients. This is a pizza place for the people – they haven’t neglected those solid classics (sometimes you just want a margherita), but they also have their own creations, such as pizza ananans (mozzarella, pineapple, speck and chilli) or salsiccia (fennel sausage, red onion and mozzarella).
