Platapian

‘How good are you with spice?’ ‘Pretty good, I reckon.’ In reality, the opposite is true, but when the flavours are this good, it’s worth feeling the heat, especially when you’re getting all the trademark sweet and sour that comes with quality Thai food. Platapian, run by restaurateur Nam Parama Raiva, might just be the tastiest new restaurant I’ve visited for a while, and while the meal I enjoyed was during the brief residency of Chef Waii from Chiang Mai, the punchy flavours he delivered seem to be just in line with what is the norm at this new Soho favourite. Order a £65 set and you get the best of everything: Isan-style crispy duck salad, yellow crab curry, grilled ribeye with Thai chimichurri praew leaf, and tiger prawns with pla chilli sauce and lemongrass. And all that after a series of tasty small plates. Hot stuff, in every sense.
