Pythouse Kitchen Garden

As hidden as ‘hidden gems’ get, Pythouse Kitchen Garden is set on a winding country road in deepest Wiltshire. Beyond bountiful hedgerows is a south-facing Victorian walled garden, and chef Dan Broom is like a child in a sweet shop: wild mushroom garum, nasturtium leaf cream, elderflower-poached strawberries, parsnip sticky toffee pudding, served in a rustic, rambling conservatory. It’s an ensemble effort. Head gardener Annie Shutt tends to the loganberries, tayberries, mulberries – even planting a pick-your-own flower bed that blooms mid-June (£15 per bucket). Then there’s founder Piers Milburn, who is also behind the botanical, non-alcoholic drinks brand Springster (think Garden Brut, Hedgerow Blush). Expect open-fire cooking, foraging tips and bell tents for those who want to make a weekend of it.
