Sindhu

Marlow Bridge Ln, Marlow

The first Indian chef to win a Michelin star in the UK, Atul Kochhar has recently picked up his tandoor and relocated to bucolic Buckinghamshire and the Macdonald Compleat Angler hotel. Just down the road from Tom Kerridge’s two-star Michelin Hand and Flowers pub, Sindhu – the Sanskrit name for the Indus River – has put Marlow firmly on the map in terms of dining destinations. In true Kochhar style, his brand of modern Indian dishes using well-sourced British produce has been well-received. A tasting menu takes you through its greatest hits. Jal tarang, scallop served with a texture of peas, shows his blend of subcontinental spicing with traditional flavour combinations perfectly. Romney Marsh lamb comes with polenta and kachumber, a fresh and vibrant salad of chopped tomatoes, cucumber, onions and chilli. However, his trademark dessert – chocolate with passion fruit (pictured, left) – is the star of the show. Velvety chocolate with delicate cardamom and zingy fruit make the ideal end to this Anglo-Indian affair.
