Ashmolean Museum, Beaumont St, Oxford, UK
A welcome addition to Oxford’s somewhat dull dining scene, this striking glass-walled space sat atop the university’s excellent museum is a treasure. Opened by restaurateurs Ben and Hugo Warner as part of the remodelling of the Ashmolean by architect Rick Mather, you can share platters of British and European charcuterie, tuck in to tapas-style dishes or sate your appetite with more substantial lamb chops and salsa verde as you gaze over the ‘city of spires’. Work up an appetite browsing the museum and return for afternoon tea.
