From the rustic driftwood furniture with blue and white accents to the menu packed with piscine delights, The Beach Bistro at The Gallivant Hotel oozes seaside charm. It would be hard not to take inspiration from the rolling dunes of Camber and the pristine beach on the doorstep, and sure enough, the ethos is loyally local. Fish comes straight off the day boats in Rye and Hastings, meaning dishes such as smoked haddock, quail’s egg and hollandaise tart, and boards like ‘Rye fritto misto’, cracked crab claws and Atlantic prawns in the shell with celeriac are unbeatably fresh.
