If, like us, you feel Sunday hasn’t really happened unless you’ve spent a few hours in front of a fire, The Pony & Trap is the place for you. This 200-year-old pub has held a Michelin star since 2011 and it retains plenty of snug personality thanks to dovetail floors and dark-wood furniture. Chef patron Josh Eggleton specialises in West Country produce and his staff know the provenance of every ingredient. We enjoyed tender slow-roast pork belly with rich onion purée and were particularly impressed with crispy polenta chips and salt-baked celeriac.
