The Refectory

York

Refectory Dining

No expense has been spared in the restaurant of the recently refurbished Principal York hotel, a handsome Grade II-listed building adjacent to York station dating from 1878. Oak flooring, glass ceilings and chandeliers provide a celebratory backdrop for excellent food. We recommend the Yorkshire ale cottage pie – a hearty and comforting plate – although for something lighter, the potted duck on sourdough is excellent. Attention to detail and little touches are on point – a sprinkling of capers makes an imaginative addition to blushing lamb rump.
