Amara Hotel

Limassol, Cyprus

With a cohort of top chefs, infinity pools overlooking volcanic beaches and 207 sea-view bedrooms bigger than most apartments, Amara marries the opulence of Dubai with the class of Cannes. Add in the ancient ruins of Kourion – a half-hour drive away – and you have a beachfront abode that has it all. Immaculate gardens are filled with olive trees and palms, while ornate ponds frame the marble palace bedecked in cocooning neutral hues. Dining options are equally as decadent. Nobu Matsuhisa has opened his Nikkei spin-off complete with all its noteworthy staples. Also in situ is Giorgio Locatelli’s unashamedly Italian restaurant, with its 300-bottle wine cellar, and an open-air seafood tavern, Armyra by Papaioannou. The spa is worth blocking out a whole afternoon for. A maze of corridors opens up to rooms concealing ice baths, saunas and an ancient well that was unearthed during construction – a striking piece of antiquity that solidifies the property’s quality roots.
