For some, the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa will need little introduction. An hour out of high-rise Dubai and into the golden dunes of the surrounding desert, this family-friendly enclave has made a name for itself since it first opened some 20 years ago. Modelled on a fortified Arabian village and listed in the Michelin guide, the resort now has highly anticipated desert pool villas, propelling the property into a new chapter of luxury. Taking inspiration from the indigenous nomads and uninterrupted terrain, the latest additions are minimalist masterpieces adding in rustic tones of warming browns and earthy reds. Indoor- outdoor living is encouraged with floor-to-ceiling windows that open on to wooden terraces, private pools, sun lounges and fire pits.
