Curaçao
A feeling that you’ve landed in paradise goes hand in hand with the Caribbean, and Baoase resort, cocooned on the south side of Curaçao, is no exception. Close to the Unesco-listed capital of Willemstad, where colonial buildings are dipped in a paint pot of bright shades, and sheltered by swaying palms and a private turquoise lagoon, it’s ideal for couples, since love is locked in at the roots – it’s built around an 80-year-old Banyan Tree, a symbol of eternal life is Indonesia.
Interiors are all about serenity – think outdoorindoor spaces, dark woods and Buddha statues and, of the 23 rooms, villas and suites, 12 feature step-down plunge pools. For aquatic adventures elsewhere, sign up for a snorkelling safari to spot seahorses and turtles. Then dial up the romance with a candle-lit dinner on the beach, where chef René Klop’s Asian flavours shine on a seafood- laden menu. Champagne at the ready.
