Standing proud amid the ancient squares and slim alleyways of the El Born district and Gothic Quarter, The Barcelona Edition brings contemporary edge to the historic Catalan city. Grand in scale, boutique by mantra, it speaks a global vernacular of smart design: an angular, somewhat brutalist facade yields to an airy interior of walnut awash with modern art and Gaudí-inspired pieces. Rooms feature parquet flooring, neutral colourways and nook-like window seating, with Le Labo amenities a given, and some suites offer plant-clad terraces. A convivial rooftop pool and bar with scene-stealing city views is framed by alliums and palms, the speakeasy- inspired Punch Room is an ode to local spirits and craft libations, and the excellent Santa Caterina Market next door fuels the restaurant’s menu. The ideal spot to make like a local.
