Kameha Grand Zürich Dufaux-Strasse 1 / Corner Thurgauerstrasse CH-8152 Glattpark/Zürich, Schweiz
Set in the heart of Zurich’s sprawling central business district yet brash enough not to look out of place on the Las Vegas strip, the Kameha Grand is full of dichotomies. Sure, it’s all smoked glass and mirrors on the exterior, set next to the kind of drab business hotels found anywhere in the Western world, but there’s more to it than a fancy facade. The rooms are playfully designed by Marcel Wanders, who brazenly champions Swiss heritage in each of the 245 rooms. Chocolate bar wallpaper adorns the walls, the minibar is dressed as a Swiss bank vault and an Alpine motif sits on the headboard. The restaurants are also far superior to what you’d expect on a company away day, too. It won’t be long before high-end Japanese Yu Nijyo wins a Michelin star, while hearty Italian L’Unico has an ex-three-Michelin chef putting together stellar pasta dishes with upwards of 400 combinations as well as the typically hearty desserts of his motherland. No expense has been spared and it shows.
Doubles from £198.
