Casa Delphine Hotel

Mexico

A far cry from bustling Mexico City (some four hours north), San Miguel de Allende is where creatives in the know retreat, and Casa Delphine is the chicest hotel from which to explore its Uneso-listed streets. Owner Amanda Keidan has stripped back the interiors to highlight original ironwork and filled the whitewashed spaces with patterned textiles and colourful furniture sourced from local artists or hand-picked during travels.

With just five suites, all with individual character – some feature arched French doors, Cantera fireplaces or window bay benches – the best seat in the house is the rooftop room, where the pink-tinged spires of Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel are visible from the terrace hot tub. Back on the ground, among baroque Spanish architecture, discover incredible street food and a thriving art scene – a trip to La Fábrica Aurora art centre is a must-do. A communal-style breakfast of fresh pastries, artisan coffee and jalapeño-spiked avocado toast sets you up for the day.

Suites from £352 (2-night min). 00 52 415 152 2461, casadelphine.com
