Cathedral House And Celentano Hotel

Central Glasgow may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of regional Italian dining, but six months after opening in 2021, Celentano’s – run by chef Dean Parker and Glasgow-born wife Anna – landed on the Michelin Bib list thanks to its delicious sharing plates. The freshest local products, plus a zero-waste and nose-to-tail approach put both sustainability and flavour at the fore. While a herb- lined garden is the warm-weather spot to feast on pasta plates and blood-orange negronis crafted using made-in-house vermouth, autumn stays are just as beautiful, with interiors featuring original flooring, sage-green hues and huge windows. After whipped ‘nduja, perhaps, followed by cod cheeks linguine, and kale and pumpkin seed ragù, end with a classic affogato with chocolate mousse, all washed down with biodynamic wines on tap.

Upstairs, lay your head in the family-owned Cathedral House, a fine example of Scottish baronial architecture. Follow the spiral staircase up to eight homely rooms with views across the city, including the renowned Necropolis. Dating back to 1896, the site formerly served as a hostel for suffragettes released from nearby Duke Street Prison. Book Celentano’s and Cathedral House separately for a riot of a weekend.
