Cotton House Hotel Hotel

Barcelona

To spend time here evokes a feeling akin to the soft embrace of a duvet day: it’s comforting, spoiling and relaxing all at once. You’ll find Cotton House in the Eixample District, poised in a 19th-century edifice on Grand Via. Run of the mill it ain’t. Its subtle motif, inspired by its former role as the HQ of both the Cotton Producers Guild and Textile Foundation, delicately punctuates the space in the form of architectural Gossypium balls, botanical pencil sketches, pale colour palettes, a clever use of textiles and a fresh linen-style scent in every space of the hotel. Cosy bedrooms feature balconies overlooking a courtyard decked out in driftwood furniture that calls for G&Ts on sun-kissed sofas. A rooftop pool completes the look, while the gorgeous hot-house-like restaurant – all glass and banana leaf –puts on a spectacular Spanish feast whatever the hour. The staff – dressed in slick tweed, smart white dresses and leather belts and braces – are exemplary. This is a hotel with a serious thread count; get there before everyone else cottons on. Doubles from £268.
