Dittisham Treehouses Hotel

United Kingdom

It’s perhaps a good sign that getting here feels as if you might be lost, such are the narrow Devon lanes en route. Even though there are four treehouses perched on stilts and snuggled into the verdant woodland, you’ve got the sense of splendid isolation. Your own wood-burning hot tub is the perfect place to take in a star-filled night sky unadulterated by urban light, and the background music is the sound of local owls, foxes and other nightlife.

These hideaways cling to the hillsides around the Dart Estuary, with pretty Dittisham nearby, and Dartmouth a short boat trip further on. Not that you’ll want for something
to do – nature trails lead off in every direction and each dog-friendly treehouse comes with outdoor games – from table football to chess – and a barbecue, plus a hammock to sleep it all off. Each unit is well equipped with a good kitchen – and welcome basket of local goodies – plus two bathrooms, master bedroom and a triple bunkbed, so plenty of space for a family of five.

Treehouses (sleeping 5) from £275 (3 nights minimum), 01803 925034, dittishamhideaway.co.uk
