Georgian Santa Monica Hotel

USA

Sunset Room at The Georgian

Following a recent revamp, Georgian Santa Monica shines brighter than ever. Summoning glamour of the golden age of Hollywood, the seafront hotel is an art deco dream: striped awning, lofty palm trees, pink feather lamps, gold trims and, of course, the iconic turquoise facade. There’s a little more restraint exercised in the rooms. With views over the Pacific creating sufficient drama, the design doesn’t distract – save the occasional padded mustard headboard or sky- blue scalloped pelmet. Reflecting LA’s buzzing social scene, the hotel’s events calendar is awash with jazz nights, elaborate brunches and legendary Spaghetti Sundays. The Library offers a tranquil escape, with books celebrating local icons like Eve Babitz and Joan Didion. It’s just a short hop to Santa Monica beach, where hotel staff are happy to erect fringed parasols and set up sun loungers, so guests can slip into the old-school LA aesthetic during a day people-spotting on the beac.
