Shortlisted in the 2024 Food and Travel Reader Awards, this Shoreditch starlet has been a firm favourite since its 2020 debut, attracting a crowd of creative types, both local and visiting, largely thanks to its prime Great Eastern Street location, sleek aesthetics and vibey restaurant. On arrival, an open lobby creates a buzz – laptops open, cocktails in hand. The 126 rooms strike a balance between industrial edge and warmth: think concrete, copper accents, plush fabrics and city views. Honouring its heritage, the hotel nods to the cabinet-making family who occupied the site in the 1800s – with rotating local art, Hoxton Press hardbacks and Soapsmith toiletries that echo the neighbourhood’s creative spirit. Downstairs, the restaurant is a riot of colour and flavour, serving pan-Asian-plates against a playful backdrop of sultry maroons and leafy plants. A stylish tribute to the area’s past and present.
