Hôtel Rochechouart, France Hotel

France

Evoking all the glamour of Twenties Paris, Hôtel Rochechouart sits at the bottom of the city’s most famous hill in Montmartre. In its heyday, the district played host to the likes of van Gogh, Monet and Picasso and the art deco ambience is captured in the bricks and mortar, although Orso Hotels group founders Anouk and Louis Solanet have given the interior a modern facelift thanks to designers Festen. Original features have been restored, including the Thirties blue mosaic floor and marble stairway now mixed with earthy tones.

Cosy up in the dimly lit bar – the wine list features both renowned vintages and small artisan producers – before dinner at Restaurant Rochechouart. A brasserie-style menu celebrates Parisian classics like creamy chicken in wine, pan-fried scallops and steak tartare. Later, catch the live music in the basement or head to the ninth floor, where a secret rooftop bar has views that stretch across the City of Light. Doubles from £148. 00 33 1 4281 9100 hotelrochechouart.com
